The Marketing Specialist will serve a critical role in the strategic growth and business development of Professional Education (PPE) at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE), which serves more than eight thousand professionals in early childhood, K-12, and higher education around the world each year through a diverse portfolio of professional learning offerings. The Marketing Specialist will collaboratively develop and deploy a strategic, comprehensive, multi-channel marketing plan that promotes the HGSE Professional Education brand, with a specific focus on the new Online Certificate for School Leaders – a joint program offered by HGSE, the Harvard Business School, and HBX – and the six on-campus institutes offered by The Principals' Center for aspiring through experienced school leaders. The Marketing Specialist will work to broaden awareness of the Online Certificate for School Leaders and The Principals' Center programs, increasing awareness and visibility of these offerings across key stakeholder audiences, and meeting ambitious goals for enrollment. A successful candidate, in addition to a solid marketing and communications background, will possess an orientation toward a highly collaborative work environment, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a demonstrated track record of driving results with clear evidence of efforts to outcomes. This position will report directly to PPE's Marketing Manager, working closely with the PPE Marketing and Admissions teams under the direction of PPE's Director of Outreach and Engagement. The Marketing Manager will also collaborate with and seek input from the PPE Portfolio Director and faculty engaged with the programs within this school leader-focused portfolio.
Develop a deep understanding of the goals, values, offerings, and markets served by HGSE Professional Education – with specific focus on the HGSE/HBS/HBX Online Certificate for School Leaders and the portfolio of programs offered through The Principals' Center – in order to represent the schools and programs with integrity and contribute to a compelling story about our purpose, identity, work, and impact
Build upon our deep understanding of programs and market/audience, and with direction/feedback from team/faculty, develop compelling email copy and design that is focused on both lead generation and lead conversion, and that balances content-driven thought leadership with program-driven promotion
Manage PPE's social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) and strategy, including social advertising; research relevant content; draft, schedule, post, and evaluate content; and work with other organizations and individuals to build an engaged social network
Work in close collaboration with Marketing Manager, freelance staff [copywriter, designer], and Marketing Assistant for support and collaboration on projects
Support or lead other projects such as press releases and articles, working in close collaboration with faculty, Portfolio Directors, and team
This is a full-time, one-year term position with the possibility of renewal on an annual basis.

Demonstrated experience developing and conveying marketing messages that capture fundamental principles and the value proposition of a given program or product offering
Experience with email marketing, including copy, design, and delivery/deployment
Excellent writing and proofreading skills
Experience with social platforms and marketing
Strong technical proficiency with email and marketing technology and/or other CRMs, and a disposition toward creating strong systems and structures to maximize productivity and efficiency in marketing and communications efforts
Experience in and/or familiarity with K-12 or higher education preferred, as well as an interest in and knowledge of the professional, executive, and/or continuing education landscapes for adult learners
Experience with Adobe Suite
