The Department of Marketing in the College of Business at Clemson University is seeking to hire a Department Chair scheduled to start in August of 2016 (or as negotiable). Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience.
Applicants for Marketing Department Chair applicants must possess a Ph.D. in a relevant area of marketing scholarship, currently hold the status of Associate or Full Professor, and demonstrate a professional record consistent with appointment to Full Professor with tenure at Clemson University. Candidates should have a strong commitment to strengthening a multi-disciplinary department and the university’s mission of teaching, research, and service at an R-1 (Highest Research Activity) institution. Qualifications for the ideal applicant include:
Administrative experience and/or evidence of potential for effective department administration
Strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills
International reputation for excellence in research
Active research agenda
A department Chairperson at Clemson University serves as the chief representative and advocate for the department within the University. He or she is responsible for the department’s educational, research and outreach programs, budgetary matters, academic facilities, and personnel matters, taking into account the advisory procedures of the department. The Chairperson has a special obligation to support the department’s strengths in scholarship, teaching, undergraduate engagement, and external reputation. Additionally, the Chairperson is expected to support college fundraising efforts and MBA Program initiatives and to collaborate across units.
We prefer applicants who can contribute to the research productivity of the department while chair and have experience in supporting a Ph.D. program.

The Marketing Department offers an Undergraduate and Masters of Science curriculum intended to advance students' knowledge and expertise in marketing theory and practice, and prepare them for careers in marketing analysis, research, management and scholarship. Currently, the faculty consists of 18 tenure-track faculty and three lecturers all dedicated to providing a premier educational experience, collaborative faculty environment, and excellence in academic research.
Standard Hrs: 37.5; Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
