The Assistant Director of Marketing / Fan Outreach is responsible for the planning and promotion of special events designed to increase attendance and ticket sales for University of Washington athletic programs.
Develop, coordinate and execute strategies designed to increase attendance and ticket sales for assigned sports including men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball, gymnastics, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball and softball, in conjunction with ticket sales and marketing/fan experience departments. Identify dates and games to target for special events (i.e. Teacher Appreciation Night, Dawg Pack Tailgate, Camper Reunion Days, etc.) with guidance and input from sport programs. Set attendance goals and regularly track progress towards goals.
Craft promotional messaging to communicate information regarding upcoming games and events, in conjunction with digital strategy and creative staff. Design strategy to leverage non-traditional communication channels, including social media, email, and digital advertising as well as traditional and grassroots efforts. Identify target audiences for each promotion and align outreach efforts befitting such audience.
Develop and execute marketing strategies designed to generate new revenue streams, including but not limited to merchandise sales, in-venue seat upgrades and experiences, and mascot appearances. Monitor the industry to recommend new revenue sources.
Manage and direct the Marketing Assistant position plus any student interns, with a focus on on-campus event promotion and engagement with the Dawg Pack (student fan group) to create programs designed to increase student attendance.
Serve as liaison to community groups, coordinating UW marketing appearances at non-athletic events. Manage the mascot program, including Harry the Husky and Dubs. Coordinates the Pups and Parents kids program.

Bachelor’s degree required in marketing, communications, public relations or a related field. Minimum of two years of combined professional experience in marketing, promotions, or events. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. Have an ever-evolving understanding of the industry and a creative mindset towards promoting events and growing revenue. Highly motivated, creative, self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills. A strong leader and mentor, especially to college students. Must be able to work a flexible schedule; evenings and weekends are required. Familiar with Photoshop and video editing software. Knowledge of Adobe Dreamweaver and/or HTML editing software preferred.
