About the Position: The Athletics department at Cal State Fullerton strives to provide an intercollegiate athletics program that is an integral part of the total educational experience at CSUF and fits within the overall mission of the University. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as a Ticket Sales and Marketing Coordinator (Public Affairs/Communication Specialist II). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness. Reporting to the Assistant Athletics Director, Marketing and Communications, the Ticket Sales and Marketing Coordinator is charged with the development and execution of a comprehensive marketing plan to increase attendance at all ticketed athletics sporting events. This includes season, individual game, group, box seating, and courtside seating totaling over $650,000. Responsible for promoting attendance and atmosphere at all ticketed athletic events. Coordinate the campus and community outreach programs which are designed to generate more publicity for Cal State Fullerton. Work with ticket office and operations staff on coordinating special events, ticket delivery, and services for those who sponsor and attend activities. Work in conjunction with the Digital Media Manager on promotional activities, producing and placing of marketing materials, and implementing overall marketing and promotional strategies, including social media sites and platform for the Department of Athletics. Assist with corporate sponsor program including sales and fulfillment of corporate sponsorship obligations. Oversee spirit support programs: Dance, Cheer, Band, and Mascot and manage Titan Tales reading and Kid's Club program. Supervise marketing interns, student employees, and volunteers and prepare job announcements and interviews for student intern positions. Work some mornings, evenings and weekends at events as required. Other duties as assigned. Essential Qualifications: Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field and up to two years or related professional or technical experience. Knowledge of the fundamentals of public affairs and/or media relations, as well as some exposure to marketing and marketing research. Possession of strong written and verbal communication skills with a solid foundation in grammar, spelling, and the composition of various communication vehicles. Ability to serve as a media spokesperson and/or senior editor. Working knowledge of copyright and other applicable laws pertaining to publications and the media. Thorough knowledge of web communication techniques, vehicles, and formats. Ability to effectively use web technology to achieve communication goals. Ability to analyze and select pertinent facts and integrate them into communication vehicles. Possession of strong story development and journalistic writing skills, as well as advanced editorial skills. Knowledge of interview techniques and the ability to define and deliver media messages. Working knowledge of marketing and research techniques and methods. Ability to apply market research to identify communication needs and target audiences. Ability to apply appropriate statistical techniques and methods to research. Possession of exceptional interpersonal skills, including strong public speaking, listening, and interpretive skills. Ability to provide lead work direction. Working knowledge of popular social media outlets with the ability to schedule, submit information, and regulate content. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
