University Communications merges strategy with creativity to produce content and products that communicate the CMU value. The Associate Director plays an instrumental role in the planning, creation, implementation and assessment of the university's strategic branding and marketing initiatives, continuously identifying ways to enhance campaign strategies and performance. As a member of the integrated marketing team, this individual will leverage evolving technology, market research and analytics in building the university's reputation and increasing enthusiasm for CMU among prospective and current students, alumni, friends, faculty and staff, and other targeted audiences. The Associate Director collaborates closely with members of the creative team, managing priorities and deadlines while ensuring consistency of messaging and brand across all communications. Leadership skills and a collaborative, goal-oriented mindset are a must.
Bachelor's degree, preferably in marketing, communications, public relations, advertising, journalism or related field Three years professional marketing and/or advertising experience with demonstrated creative writing ability Demonstrated ability to combine strategic thinking with creative writing and effective tactical execution Demonstrated experience working with a team to develop and execute various components of an integrated marketing and advertising campaign Ability to think strategically and advance internal client/university goals Ability to collaborate with team members and campus clients, identifying needs and goals and articulating creative concepts and rationale Strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills to plan, set priorities and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment Demonstrated interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including exceptional grammatical, spelling and proofreading skills Team player who is highly motivated and a self-starter, with an ability to inspire and persuade others
