St Augustine College was established in 1980 to serve the higher education needs of Hispanics and non-Hispanics. St Augustine College is an independent, non-profit college, with four locations in Chicago and one in Aurora, Illinois. It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and is a member of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities.
St Augustine College provides the latest instructional materials, highly qualified faculty, and a nurturing environment with a personal touch. We offer excellent academic programs that include five Bachelor Degrees and a wide range of Associate Degrees. We accommodate the needs of traditional and adult students by offering day, evening and Saturday classes and providing child care services. St. Augustine also offers workforce development training through our Institute for Workforce Education.
The Director of Marketing and Communications (DMC) reports to the Vice President of Enrollment Management and manages the functions of the Marketing Department. The DMC will lead in the development and implementation of all marketing and communications plans/strategies and initiatives, in accordance with the college’s mission focusing on aligning all resources and strategies to help achieve enrollment goals. This position also works with and provides interactive support to other departments, including enrollment, development, educational sites, and general operations, to coordinate and implement the program and institutional recruitment-based initiatives and brand management. The DMC will supervise other marketing staff and oversee information systems and technology used to develop metrics and process/monitor marketing and communication channels.
Summary of Job Responsibilities Include:
Manages the Marketing Department’s budget and is an integral member of the college’s strategic enrollment team.
Supervises, trains, and evaluates marketing staff to ensure the College’s and the Marketing Department’s annual goals are met.
Oversees the information systems and the technology used to process and monitor marketing and communication channels.
Plans, implements, monitors and evaluates the College's marketing plans, including advertising, public relations, and new media strategies.
Develops and implements strategies, in partnership with other college stakeholders, to target the two main sources of recruitment for the college: 1. Traditional students coming from high schools and related educational institutions. 2. Non-traditional students that include working adults with families, and non-English dominant prospects (mostly Spanish dominant).
Develops and oversees the production of marketing and communications materials, including: TV, radio and digital commercials and other graphic materials (brochures, newsletters, etc.); Composes correspondence, media messages, articles, press releases, announcements, news articles for dissemination, presentations and other oral/written communications to meet the College’s external communications needs.
Oversees the maintenance of the college’s website and social media outlets platforms. Coordinates the photography/visual needs of the College.
Plans and manages all relevant activities for College related events.
Participates in appropriate College committees.
Attends regional and national conferences and events to learn about best practices and successful marketing strategies used in higher education.
Participates in meetings, training, and other activities as necessary and as determined by the VP of Enrollment Management.
Assumes other duties as determined by the VP of Enrollment Management, including ad-hoc committees and task forces.
Minimum Requirements Include:
A Bachelor Degree in Marketing, Communications, Media, or a related field is required.
A minimum of 5 years of progressive management experience in a marketing and communications role is required.
Must be bilingual (English/Spanish) and able to effectively communicate, speak in public, and relate with a culturally and ethnically diverse population, as reflected in the office staff and the communities and students we serve.
2-3 years of knowledge and experience in multi-channel marketing, including social media, preferably in an education environment is required.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and have an insured vehicle for transportation.
Maintains flexibility in work schedules to accommodate weekend and evening hours, frequent travel among locations, administrative needs, and special events.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant technological tools is required.
Familiarity with creative tools such as Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, among others, is a plus.
