The Employer Relations and Marketing Specialist will create multichannel communications plans, develop a unified approach to Hegi Family Career Development Center correspondence to diverse campus communities and stakeholders, create compelling on brand content, be responsible for writing and editing online marketing content, be able to strategically identify and build relationships with regional, state, national, and international employers for recruitment of university students and alumni, and collaborate with the internal Employer Relations Team to bring employer focused opportunities and events to SMU students.
Create multichannel communications plans, develop a unified approach to Hegi Family CDC correspondence to diverse campus communities and stakeholders, create compelling on brand content, write and edit online marketing content.
Strategically identify and build collaborative relationships with regional, state, national, and international employers for recruitment of university students and alumni.
Collaborate with internal Employer Relations Team to bring employer focused opportunities and events to SMU students.
Assist our SMU employers and employer relations team with setting up interviewing schedules, events, and meetings through utilization of our career services platform, Handshake.
Other duties as assigned.
Master’s degree is required.
Prefer field of study in counseling, higher education, liberal arts or other related field.
A minimum of three years’ work experience in either a college career counseling center, higher education, and/or employer relations and development is required.
Experience in assessment of student learning, employer engagement, and job placement outcomes is preferred.
Experience creating and presenting educational workshops is preferred.
Working knowledge and experience with social media, effective campus communications, and comfortable delivering communication via a variety of technology tools is required.
Experience working with industry and community partners is required.
Experience with database management and social media environments is required.
Experience with Handshake is preferred.
Event management experience is preferred.
Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) are required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidate must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to interface well with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Must be able to network well, working with employer representatives, alumni, parents, students, and staff.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly and effectively present to various sized groups.
Candidate must possess excellent organizational skills which include effective planning, time management and project management. Must be focused on deadlines and attentive to details.
Candidate must demonstrate strong problem solving skills and analytical skills.
Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with others.
Microsoft Office, database management, and variety of technology tools and social media skills are required.
The position will occasionally work evenings or weekends as required for special events.
This position must be able to stand, handle objects (dexterity) and be able to sit for long periods of time.
