The University of Connecticut Division of Athletics is seeking qualified applicants for a paid internship position in the Marketing Office. Under the general supervision of designated supervisor, duties would include but are not limited to: Works with the supervisor to plan cost-effective marketing strategies and promotional campaigns designed to engage various stakeholder groups and audiences to generate ticket sales, revenue or attendance and maximize the fan experience for athletic events and assigned sports; provide gameday support for athletic events and assigned sports including but not limited to, script writing, music coordination, timeout coordination, activation of sponsorships; and may be responsible for other special projects or services as necessary to the department including but not limited to assistance at men’s and women’s basketball, football, planning and execution for football Fan Fest and First Night (UConn’s version of Midnight Madness, a combined Men’s and Women’s Basketball event) and Junior Husky Club management/planning and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, sports management or related field; demonstrated experience planning, supervising and executing game day promotions and sponsor fulfillment; knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; and excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to work nights, weekends and irregular schedules is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous gameday management experience at the Division I level, including working on headset directing game execution and creating scripts; experience with soccer or basketball is highly desired. Graphic design proficiency with programs of Adobe’s Creative Cloud, especially Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator. Planning special events such as Spring Game, Midnight Madness, and cultivating/growing student engagement.
