JOB SUMMARY: This is a first level Athletics Operations Professional position providing support within the framework of the entire athletic department and NCAA rules. Develops competence by performing structured work assignments. Identifies potential problems and related issues in straightforward situations, assesses each issue using standard procedures and makes sound decisions consistent with established policies. Receives instruction, guidance, direction, and supervision from the Athletic Director.
Responsible for day-to-day operation of event management and game operations in Intercollegiate Athletics to include creating and fostering an event management and game operations environment that enriches the Golden Eagle experience for student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and patrons; with an emphasis on customer service and a quality atmosphere while emphasizing good sportsmanlike conduct and promoting the Golden Eagle Philosophy.
Expected to adhere to policies, rules and regulations of the University, the Northern Sun Conference, and the NCAA, and commitment to reporting any NSIC or NCAA violations involving the University of Minnesota Crookston to departmental compliance personnel. Assist in overseeing and facilitating sales, ticketing, event booking, client relations, vendor relations, budget and marketing efforts related to the athletic program.
Assist in initiating, designing, developing, and implementing internal and external communications, marketing strategy, and strategic plan for the Athletics Department. Develop short and long-term goals for event management and game operations.
Coordinate event management and game operations coverage of all Golden Eagle athletic events insuring the efficient operation of all events. Lead logistical and event management including promotion and video production, social networking, live streaming, and assisting with athletic communications and marketing. Coordination of Golden Eagle event schedule to verify accuracy for public and internal release. Schedule athletic facilities events. Assist with the scheduling process for Intercollegiate Athletics to include planning, staffing and managing NCAA, NSIC and High School championship events as directed. Provide direction and assistance to representatives of various University and non-university groups on areas related to event management. Work with Athletic Department, campus, student and external clients to schedule, staff, execute special events and ensure accurate payment of related fees and incidental expenses. Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree and zero to one year relevant work experience or a combination of related education and relevant work experience to equal four years; ability to apply knowledge and skill to recurring tasks and activities with emphasis on precision and timeliness of execution, and knowledge of NCAA Division II rules and regulations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Previous experience working in a NCAA II athletic program; excellent interpersonal, motivational, interpersonal, and time management skills; personal commitment to integrity of the athletic program and the concept of the student-athlete; and basic computer skills.
